It's A Family Affair.....

N' Orlins. My friends. Go there. Warm, welcoming, protecting, open, vulnerable, special. We were embraced with open arms and honesty, lots of emotion, it's a place we leave feeling better for have been there.......because it is- beautiful. In so many ways. A lot of down and out is there and you can feel it, see it; but man it's got a lot of fucking soul.

This is Ann and Bob Chassee. That Southern Hospitality I was talking about upon our arrival into Louisiana? That was them. They took us for an amazing dinner at Clancy's, a local restaurant where we probably had the last meal which involves courses in who knows how long. They are amazing. All of our parents shall thank them for taking such good care of us and more importantly, we thank them, hoping to carry their generosity with us as we travel these roads. Here is 8 ?'s answered by the Chassee's; it's been a pleasure:
1. Describe America in One Word?
Ann: Home
Bob: Proud

2. If you Could Change One Thing About America What Would It be?
Ann: Political Correctness
Bob: I would go back to more individual spirit.

3. What's your favorite food?
Ann: Hamburger
Bob: Crawfish

4. Who is a Hero in your life?
Ann: My mother. Dealing with her alzheimers. She's very happy, she doesn't blame people. So gracious.
Bob: I could only say my father.

5. What is the biggest stress you have in your life?
Ann: When my children are unhappy.
Bob: Job stress. I work a very stressful job.

6. If you could be any animal what would it be?
Ann: Pig
Bob: A Water Buffallo. I was always intrigued by them when I was a kid.

7. What is your favorite thing about yourself?
Ann: My adaptability
Bob: My sense of humor.

8. What "words of wisdom" do you have to pass on?
Ann: If the situation you're in is unbearable, change will come. Embrace the change.
Bob: Big Opossums walk late and the bottom dog on the pile always has the babies. (when the going gets tough......)

This is Chris. He was our cab driver from Clancy's to Vaughn's. Navigating us gently through the streets of the city, he was really open. We talked music, we talked life, he loves the Allman Brothers.....Here's his thoughts:

Chris: Hope

2. If you Could Change One Thing About America What Would It be?
Chris:Healthcare

3. What's your favorite food?
Chris: Lobster

4. Who is a Hero in your life?
Chris: Clint Eastwood

5. What is the biggest stress you have in your life?
Chris: Keeping my cab running. $.

6. If you could be any animal what would it be?
Chris: I'd be a fish.

7. What is your favorite thing about yourself?
Chris: I'm real. real.

8. What "words of wisdom" do you have to pass on?
Chris: It's easy to be nice to people. Not mean.

I met a gentleman by the name of Big-O. He called my mom. I appreciated it, but am not sure if she did. He said this:

Big-O: A bitch

2. If you Could Change One Thing About America What Would It be?
Big-O: Get my $

3. What's your favorite food?
Big-O: Papaya

4. Who is a Hero in your life?
Big-O: Martin Luther King and Malcolm X

5. What is the biggest stress you have in your life?
Big-O: I'm not Al Capone, Hugh Hefner, and Rockefeller

6. If you could be any animal what would it be?
Big-O: A humble bird. Or a lion

7. What is your favorite thing about yourself?
Big-O: My soul

8. What "words of wisdom" do you have to pass on?
Big-O: Do what the mother fuckers are supposed to do. Keep the ice box full, the lights on, tennis bracelets on my lady and a rolex on my wrist.

Here's some photo's from that day and evening, going to Vaughn's and seeing Kermit Ruffins perform was truly an in and out of body experience for all of us road girls. Fucking music. It always wins.
